It appears PIP/no-fault will "sunset" on Monday, October 1, but that the Legislature will take up a package to reenact it after the fact and create a revised PIP/no-fault system during the October 3-12 special session. There is still plenty of discontent among at least some stakeholders, so stay tuned.
We are a source for you on what the sunset of PIP on Monday might mean and on legislative deliberations next week.
For your information, there are very significant meetings on PIP/no-fault Tuesday, October 2.
The Senate Banking & Insurance Committee meets Tuesday, from 1 to 3 p.m. in Room 412, Knott Building, Tallahassee. The agenda is a workshop "on proposed legislation to reenact and revise the Florida Motor Vehicle No-Fault Law."
The House Jobs & Entrepreneurship Council and Insurance Committee have scheduled a joint meeting October 2, presumably on PIP/no-fault sunset. The meeting is from 4:15 to 6 p.m. in Room 212, Knott building, Tallahassee.
We are attempting to secure draft bills and summaries from the House and Senate committees and will release those to you once they are available.
Thank you.
