FIC updates critical hurricane information
as peak hurricane season approaches
TALLAHASSEE, FL—The Florida Insurance Council, the state’s leading and largest insurance trade association representing more than 200 companies and insurer groups writing all lines of coverage in Florida, is once again providing news outlets with updated lists and data that writers can rely upon before, during and after a hurricane strikes.
The Florida Insurance Council represents the entire insurance community with a seat situated in the Florida Emergency Operations Center where it actively participates in critical catastrophe planning and execution.
From its seat at the heart of emergency operations, FIC works directly with EOC operatives in identifying areas impacted by catastrophic events such as hurricanes. In addition to identifying affected areas, FIC assists in assessing damage and determines where to effectively and efficiently place mobile claims centers to provide immediate relief to those affected by the catastrophe.
The Florida Insurance Council has updated for 2008, its White Paper entitled, “Before the Storm” and its list of insurance company media contacts. Both can be found on the FIC website in a special Insurance Media section located on the lower left-hand side of the FIC homepage: www.flains.org.
You will find a library full of information that reporters have found extremely useful in assisting them to quickly find reference material and contact information during the fast-paced times of catastrophe.
Your contacts at FIC are:
Sam Miller, Executive Vice President Gary Landry, Vice President
