Guy has had a distinguished career as an attorney and professional in the insurance community, as well as a long, outstanding relationship with the Florida Insurance Council.

Guy's achievements on behalf of the insurance community include service as Chair of the FIC Executive Committee and Board; President of the Florida Insurance News Service, now part of FIC; and Florida State Vice President, American Council of Life Insurance. He has extensive experience in property and casualty issues as well.

During his tenure as Independent Life's General Counsel, the Jacksonville entity operated Independent Fire Insurance Company, a major homeowner’s insurer in Florida and other states.

Guy has extensive lobbying experience. He was legislative representative for the domestic life insurance industry in Jacksonville for years, prior to joining Independent Life, and spent sessions in Tallahassee. Marvin has worked in recent years with AXA in Jacksonville. He is a licensed Series 66 and Series 7 insurance agent.

He was the 1987 recipient of the Wade D. Holland Distinguished Service Award, which is given annually by the Council.

Guy is a graduate of Duke University and the University of Florida Law School. He and his wife have three sons and a daughter.
